It’s all about protection.
Things break. They disappear. Accidents happen. Your home, your cars, your valuable property . . . all of it is subject to some risk of damage or loss. While everyone can absorb some risk, insurance is for protecting your assets from risk you can’t handle on your own.
Some insurance is required by law; some is required by your mortgage company; some it’s just wise to have. No matter what type of policy you need, we make doing business with us as easy as possible. Our office is in Northampton, but our location is anywhere you need us to help you work out a new insurance plan, fill out an application or even pick up a premium.
Here is a quick sampling of home and personal insurance we offer:
HOMEOWNERS INSURANCE
This policy includes coverage for the structure of your home (and other structures), your personal belongings, additional living expenses if you can’t live in your home because of an insured loss, and liability protection. If you have a mortgage, this type of coverage is required by your lender.
Consider adding these coverages to your home policy:
Replacement cost
Pays to rebuild or repair your home or replace your possessions without deducting depreciation
Floater or endorsement
A standard home policy typically only includes a limited amount for theft of jewelry, furs or collectibles. If you have these types of possessions, consider purchasing additional coverage.
Child day care coverage
If you care for up to six children, this liability insurance is for you.
Sewer or drain back-up
If you suffer loss because water or sewage backs up through sewers or drains, or overflows from a sump pump, up to $5,000 is covered.
Identity theft – Identity recovery
If you suffer an identity theft, this insurance pays for expenses such as notarizing fraud affidavits and certified mail, lost income from time taken off from work to meet with law-enforcement personnel or credit agencies, fees for reapplying for loans and attorney’s fees to defend against lawsuits and remove criminal or civil judgments.
Flood insurance
A special coverage available through FEMA’s National Flood Insurance Program.
Umbrella liability
Designed to protect you and your family in the event of a catastrophic lawsuit, it adds more liability protection and broader coverage to your standard home policy.
If you’re not a homeowner, one of these policies may suit your needs:
Renter’s insurance
Your landlord won’t cover you if there’s a fire. You need a renter’s insurance policy to cover your belongings and liability coverage.
Condominium
Condo coverage is a little different from a home policy. It covers you to rebuild the interior shell, your personal property and additional living expenses if you have to relocate temporarily after a covered loss, loss assessments (typically up to $5,000) that your association might require you to pay if they have too little coverage, personal liability, and medical payments to others who are injured in an accident that happens on your premises or from something you might do.
