Insurance is a complex subject. To begin with, you hope you never need to use it. It’s detailed, complicated, and often required by law. Most people don’t have the time or interest to understand it fully — which is why knowing and trusting your insurance agent is so important.
We work hard to earn your trust, and to make it easy for you to do business with us. We want to save you money without compromising your insurance coverage. We spend time with you, finding out what your risks are and explaining how they can be minimized. Unexpected things can happen. We just want you to be ready if they do.
Our office is in Northampton, in the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania. But our location is wherever you need us to be. We care for clients from the Wyoming Valley to the Brandywine Valley, from the Delaware Valley to the Susquehanna Valley.

Our Story
David A. Peters, CPCU, as a young man, from a well-loved wallet snapshot
Peters Insurance was founded back in 1978 the old-fashioned way — with hard work and shoe leather. David A. Peters began by visiting his neighbors and prospective clients door-to-door, treating everyone like family.
An independent agent and thinker, David took his clients’ needs to heart and did his best to simplify the complexities of insurance. His goal was to provide “as near perfect protection, as near perfect service, as is humanly possible, and to do so at the lowest possible cost.”
Today, his daughter Elizabeth Hildebeidel is at the helm of the agency, continuing the tradition of solid insurance know-how combined with warmth and generosity of spirit.
Peters Insurance has remained an independent agency, establishing ties with many of America’s most highly-respected insurance companies. The entire staff of dedicated insurance professionals continues David A. Peters’ expert and accommodating way of operating. Their 21st Century motto rings true: “Easy as can be!”
Our people
Beth Peters Hildebeidel, owner of Peters Insurance, has been with the agency since 1986. She loves meeting people, saving them money, educating them about insurance, and turning friends into family.
An Allentown native, she enjoys beach vacations with her husband, Scott, their two children and their two little dogs.
Scott Hildebeidel, a property and casualty insurance agent, joined Peters Insurance in 2003. He wears many hats at the agency, and especially enjoys projects that involve talking with people.
Born and raised in Allentown, Scott enjoys playing basketball and bike riding at the beach with his wife, Beth, and family.
Jon Chandler, CIC (Certified Insurance Counselor), has been in the insurance industry since 1979. Since joining Peters Insurance in 1990, he has enjoyed meeting and helping a wide array of commercial insurance clients.
Originally from Macungie, PA, Jon now lives in East Greenville with his wife, two sons, and a dog, Moose.
Shawna Kneas is a customer service representative and licensed property, casualty, life and health agent. She joined the agency in 2002, and enjoys helping people reduce their insurance costs without sacrificing coverage.
Shawna has a degree from Cedar Crest College and enjoys travel and riding horses. Her good sense of humor comes in handy when dealing with her two Great Danes.
Deborah Bodnar, office manager, is a licensed property and casualty agent. She joined Peters Insurance in 1993, and has been enjoying meeting people and working with customers ever since.
A Northampton native and graduate of Kutztown University, Deborah enjoys gardening, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.
Laura Millan joined Peters Insurance in 1981. A licensed property and casualty insurance agent, she is responsible for customer service and enjoys explaining insurance to people and saving them money wherever possible.
Laura lives in the Lehigh Valley with her husband, two sons, and a beloved stray cat that she rescued several years ago.
